♡ Real Talk... Moving/Foreign Exchange ♡

Hey guys!

I figured it was about time that I talk to you about some stuff that I know many of you deal with or will have to in the future. So now, I'm starting this new 'series' type of thing called Real Talk where I'll talk to you about something. As you can tell by the title this first one is about moving...

Back story first, I have quite the track record when it comes to moving. I've lived in a few different countries and switched schools several times so trust my advice on this, ok? My first big move was to the USA and I was very young so I don't remember it too well. I remember not speaking the language and how hard it was at first. But after a few months I'd already learned english and everything was swell once again!

But when I moved from the USA to Brazil, I was already a teenager and let me tell you... It was HARD. I had a whole life back in the US, I had great friends, a boyfriend type of thing, I loved my school, I had everything. Meanwhile, I had nothing in Brazil and I'd forgotten most of my Portuguese since I had spoken english for the past 8 years. I spent a very long time denying that I was back, I'd focus strictly on my life back in America and wouldn't do anything in Brazil. I'd spend the entire year counting down to the day when I'd go visit. I closed myself off from meeting new people because I was in denial.

It took me a year or two of struggling and being unhappy to figure out that the only problem was me. I was denying myself from participating, from making new friends and from being happy. So I decided to try. In a few months, I'd already made new friends and I had plans every weekend. Life was good once again. So don't be afraid to put yourself out there! People are nicer than we tend to think, most people won't reject you. Don't focus on your old life, work on making your new life the best it can be.

Now, after that I moved to France and it was a little different. Once again, I didn't speak the language but I was already 17 and knew who I was. I'd already had the experience of living in a different country. But this time around I didn't have my parents with me. Making friends was easy, if you're a foreign exchange student it's likely that you'll bond with other exchange students. They're the only ones who fully understand what you're going through. Some of the people I met during this time are people I consider my best friends. It also helps you figure out who your real friends are back home.

Getting used to a new culture, a new routine is difficult but if you're considering foreign exchange it's something you have to do. My advice is don't be afraid. Don't be afraid to talk to people, to ask for help, to try new things, to speak the language, to make mistakes, to share how you really feel. Just don't be afraid. Your fear is what will hold you back so get comfortable with being uncomfortable. At the end of the day, the whole experience is extremely rewarding and you'll come back with new friends, new stories, a home away from home and you'll be a new you. More responsible and more independent. Take it from me, it's hard. But it's also one of the best things you'll ever do.

I hope this was helpful to some of you, if you have any questions don't be afraid to ask me!

♡I'm 18?♡

Hello there lovely readers!

To say it's been a while since I've last written would be an understatement and I have no particular reason as to why I haven't written. So much has happened in the past couple months like the fact that I'm sort of 18 now?? If I were to write it all down we'd be here for a few more months therefore I figured the best way to get back into blogging would be through doing the "Get To Know Me" tag because I'm not the same person I was a year ago... So hi there! I'm Anna, nice to meet you!

1. What's your middle name?
I don't have one!

2. What is your favorite color?
Whenever anyone asks me this I'll always say red in a burgundy or maroon shade but I constantly find myself gravitating towards navy blue and khaki green clothes.

3. Who was your first best friend?
When I was really young I have no idea... The first one I can think of would have to be Karen.

4. How tall are you?
Last year I was 5'4 but I think I'm like 5'5 or 5'6 now.

5. Cats or dogs?
Dogs 100%... Sorry cat people!

6. Funniest moment throughout school?
Hmm... I can't think of one right now.

7. How many countries have you visited?
I've been to Canada, USA, Brazil, Bahamas, France, Spain, Germany and Monaco... So 8 countries.. But that number will go up in the next year!!

8. Are you in college?
I graduated high school December last year and am currently doing a prelaw type of thing. But I will soon be starting college, majoring in economy.

9. What was your favorite/least favorite subject in high school?
I loved math and chemistry in high school and now I also like geography, which I hated in high school. Least favorite was and still is physics and grammar.

10. What is your favorite drink?
Probably pink lemonade.

11. What is your favorite animal?
I like whales, foxes, wolves, bears and dogs... I can't just pick one favorite!

12. What is your favorite perfume?
Currently it's Nirvana by Elizabeth and James... I haven't been very into perfumes lately.

13. Tea or coffee?
I like iced coffee and I'll drink green tea for health purposes. But I'm not a fan of either, tbh.

14. What would you name your children?
I don't see myself having children in the future but that might change one day. So if I had a child I'd name her Stella Marie or Sienna or Savannah. For a boy, I'd name him either Nicolas or Christopher.

15. What sports do you/have you played?
Sports aren't my thing. But as a kid, I did ballet and did swimming.

16. What is your favorite book?
Currently it's Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur, amazing read. Go check it out, it's such a quick and amazing read.

17. Who are some of your favorite youtubers?
I haven't been watching much Youtube lately but my favorites are, definitely, David DobrikJessi Smiles and Tana Mongeau.

18. What is your favorite movie?
This hasn't changed... My favorite movie is still One Day. Followed by Across The Universe and 500 Days of Summer. Also any romantic comedy, basically. Specially from the 90s.

19. Are you single or taken?
Single af.

20. What's your ideal first date?
Honestly, anything but dinner/lunch or any meal. Like I'd rather do something fun than go out to eat. I find it really awkward to sit with people and eat, I like eating alone at home. An amusement park would honestly be the best date ever.

21. How many boyfriends/girlfriends have you had?
Ugh... Define boyfriend... I've been in situations where we're dating but not official. But if you want to know like official official, like changing my facebook relationship status serious then only 1. But I date, I just haven't found anyone I'm too thrilled about lately to be quite honest.

22. Favorite memory from childhood?
I hate questions like this because I can never think of one. I mean.... I don't know. I haven't given it much thought.

23. Do you speak any different languages and how well?
I speak English and Portuguese fluently. I also speak french and I can get by... I mean I lived in France for a while. I have been practicing my Spanish lately and it's improving... I hope.

24. Do you have any siblings?
Yes, I have an older sister who is 2 years older.

25. How would you describe your fashion sense?
My friends describe it as pretty conservative, I hate showing off skin. But I'm more on the girly side than on the edgy side. Honestly, I just wear what I like.

26. What is your favorite restaurant?
Probably Cheesecake Factory, I'm in love with their pasta carbonara. Or maybe Outback because their baked potatoes give me life.

27. What are some of your favorite TV shows?
I really like Modern Family, Friends, Gossip Girl, Pretty Little Liars, Grey's Anatomy, House, Suits, How To Get Away With Murder, I'll watch anything really. But (unpopular opinion time) I don't like Breaking Bad or Game of Thrones.

28. PC or Mac?
Mac, no doubt.

29. What phone do you have?
The iPhone 6s in rose gold.

30. Tell us one of your bad habits.
The one I can think of right now (because I'm currently doing it) is I stay up till late and always regret it when I wake up at 5AM to go to class....

Anyways... That's it for this tag!! Feel free to answer it in the comments below! Also, if you sent me an email or anything I did not ignore you! My email got hacked and I just got it back after months of struggling so feel free to contact me at bohemian-nightmares@hotmail.com... See you soon!

♡ Paris, je t'aime ♡

In order to make up for my slightly depressing last post, I'm going to be sharing a couple pictures from my trip to Paris... Don't be fooled, I am a whopping three hour train ride away from Paris so no, I am not close. But I did spend a day there and, unfortunately, it was raining but that doesn't mean I loved it any less. Anyways, I'll stop my yapping and show y'all some pics from the trip...

To go along with this post, check out the song above! It's a ukulele cover of the song La vie en rose, it was on the TV show How I Met Your Mother, which is one of my favorites!

The view from Sacrécoeur

L'arc du triomphe

Le Tour Eiffel

La cathédrale Notre Dame

Le Louvre

The Louvre's geotag, in case you were wondering
I think that's about it.... Have you ever been to Paris?

À trés bientôt!

♡ Everything Changed... ♡

Last time I blogged my life was completely different and that is something so difficult to grasp that I can barely describe it. By my last post, some of you may be aware of that fact that I have moved... I'm now living in southern France and my world has turned upside down, in both a good and bad way..
I remember being at home and dreaming about this experience and I'd think to myself that it'll be amazing and I'll have all the freedom/independence I've ever wanted. I, truly, do but I never gave much thought to the consequences that would come with this. Like missing everyone at home so much that it physically hurts... Not to get all poetic and stuff but it's a feeling I've never experienced to such extent... It feels like my heart is so tight in my chest that it'll implode.. Not explode, implode.
The whole experience changes you, there's no way that it won't. You can feel yourself changing and maturing and you're not sure if it's for the best or for the worst. Personally, I spend lots of time wondering if when I go home in a few months if my friends will recognize me when I go home. Not physically but personality-wise... I used to get angry at the smallest things but now I learned that I need to learn to keep my cool because if I were to get upset over everything, I'd always be sad and I'd take away nothing from this experience.
It's strange because there's things that I miss that I NEVER thought I would. For example, fighting with my mother... I know it's terrible but my mother and I used to fight everyday and now when we talk we only tell each the good stuff because we want to spare each other feelings but I secretly wish that she'd yell at me for not cleaning my room or for throwing my wet towel on my bed. Just those little things. I also miss hanging out with my friends at Starbucks and drinking iced coffee all afternoon. But I'm excited to hug them when I get back since absence really does make the heart grow fonder.
I know I don't usually make personal posts but I figured I should start making more posts like this since after all, I am not only a beauty/fashion blogger but also lifestyle and who knows? Potentially a bit more travel as well..

Let me know in the comments how you're doing! Have you ever lived abroad? If so, what was it like?

Thanks for reading!

♡ I'm moving?! ♡

Whoa, to think that last time I posted on this blog I had no idea what the future had in store for me is such an interesting thought. I've been gone for a long time and I know that nothing I say will justify it and I won't say that I've been so so busy and haven't had the time to post, I'll be honest and say blogging hasn't been a priority. But for now I am back and, oh boy, so much has happened.

For starters I am now officially a senior and I graduate in about three months, how crazy is that? I also got into a couple colleges and I'm just waiting till it's fall in the US to start applying over there, I think I'll major in economy and minor in psychology. Let's see... What else? Oh yeah! In two weeks, I'm moving to France which has been my dream since I was about three years old... Excited yet nervous! I already miss my friends and haven't even left but this will be good for me.

I've made a few playlists in the mean time if you want to go ahead and check those out!

I think this it for now, but I'll come back soon enough! Thanks for reading!

♡ 20 Days Til Christmas: MAC 2014 Holiday Collection: Salon Rouge Lipstick ♡

If you didn't already know, each year MAC launches a new holiday collection each year and this year's is called the Heirloom mix and it's gorgeous! I always pick up a few lipsticks from the line and this year I originally got Salon Rouge and Rebel but there was this whole thing where Rebel was broken and when I went to exchange it, it was sold out and blah blah. Long story short, I only have Salon Rouge which is perfectly fine with me.

Let's talk about the packaging for a moment, as you can see it's black like all MAC packaging but it has some sparkles on it. I have to say last year's packaging was, in my opinion, better. The silver part when you walk the lipstick was golden and it was just gorgeous.

Salon Rouge is a deep red, darker than strawberry red and it's gorgeous. I really like the color, I don't own any reds like this. I almost got Sparks of Romance but I thought it looked too much like Ruby Woo but with a little bit of glitter and I don't like glitter on my lips so yeah... My big issue with Salon Rouge is that it's a matte lipstick, I love how it looks and all but it's like Ingrid (Miss Glamorazzi) said 'It's like applying a glue stick to your lips'. I prefer MAC lipsticks with a Satin finish because they're much easier to apply and my lips don't feel dry when I put it on. Therefore, before putting this lip stick on I strongly suggest using a lip scrub beforehand and some lip balm as well.

What did you think of MAC's Heirloom Mix?

♡ Weekly Fave: Tangle Teezer ♡

A few months ago I mentioned in my favorites that I'd been loving the travel size Tangle Teezer and I told y'all that I'd boughten the travel size due to the fact that my local Sephora wasn't selling the regular one. But guess what? They finally got it and guess who bought it? You guessed it, I did!

The Tangle Teezer is basically a hair brush but it has a different appeal to it. Supposedly, it's got 'revolutionary teeth configuration for dual action. Gives pain-free detangling', 'memory flex technology for speedy and gentle results. Ideal on wet and dry hair' and 'innovative centralized concave design delivers optimum results from roots to ends'. There's something that Shaun P, the hair stylist who created this brush, said that I really liked 'A hairbrush that looked different, felt different, so naturally performed differently.'

Guess what? I'm here to tell you that it's true... This hairbrush is, as a matter of fact, amazing. Normally, I had to use a detangler otherwise my scalp would hurt from all of the tugging and pulling from brushing my head but this is no longer a problem. The Tangle Teezler basically glides on my hair and it works so quickly. I also love the whole design of it, it's palm fitting and much easier to carry around in your bag than normal hairbrushes that get tangled with other things. My only problem with this product is that it's quite difficult to take the hair out of the teeth when I'm cleaning the brush but other than that.

In these pictures, I'm showing the compact Tangle Teezer in black and gold. They have a wide range of colors you can choose from uch as black, pink/black and cheetah print. I love how small this is, it's great for traveling because I can just throw it in my bag. I love the protective teeth cover because it not only keeps the teeth of the brush clean but it also keeps it from getting tangled and possibly ruining other things in my bag. The compact Tangle Teezer retails for $20.00 and is available at Sephora.

In these pictures, I'm showing the original Tangle Teezer. As you can see by the pictures it's a neon orange on the outside part and the teeth are yellow. You can also choose other colors like pink, purple/pink, black, blue and other colors. This fits perfectly in my palm and I just love brushing my hair with this. I wish this had a cover for the teeth like the compact one because it makes storage a bit more complicated. This one is currently not available at US Sephora stores but it's available in Sephoras for other countries, I bought mine there during Black Friday. But if you live in the US and want this then fear not it's available at Sally's in two different colors pink and purple/pink. You can order this from the Tangle Teezer website, they ship worldwide but their prices are in English pounds which end up being more expensive than any other currency. #economylessons

Overall, I'm really happy with this product and I have most definitely retired my old hair brush for this one.

♡ App of the Week: Scrivener ♡

It's been so long since I've made an app of the week post but I figured that this app is different than most therefore I must give it a quick shout out. You know?

Unlike most of the products that I include in my app of the week posts this isn't an app for your iPhone or iPad, it's an app for your Macbook or iMac or anything like that. This app will appeal most to those of you who enjoy writing. It has formatting for screenplays, poetry, novels, short stories and much more. It gives you space to plot out your entire story, to write about each one of your characters, to define the setting, to write down notes and any other thing you can think of. You can also use the index cards to map out each part of your story!

I, personally, don't use much of the other features besides the screen play one since I enjoy writing screen plays. I found that this was a much more affordable writing software than Final Draft 9 and many of those other ones that tend to cost over a hundred dollars. I love writing on this, I don't have much to say on it besides that. I'm not a professional writer or anything like that therefore I feel as if it's not really my place to go into much detail. But I love this app and if you're a new writer then I think it's a great option. I enjoy how I don't need wifi to use this like Celtx. I used to use Celtx but I needed internet connection and I don't always have internet connection when I'm writing.

This is available in the app store and it retails for $45, I think. But I got it when it was on sale for $20, which was an amazing price!

Here are some of the options for formatting that you have.

The 'binder' where you can keep all of your characters, places, scenes, etc...

This is what the character page looks like, you can use this to describe each character in as much or as little detail as you want.

This is what the 'place' page looks like, you can use this to describe the setting.
